Endovascular Aortic Arch Graft Rupture of an aortic arch aneurysm is fatal. Surgery to prevent this requires cardiopulmonary bypass and hypothermic circulatory arrest. It is associated with a 17% risk of death and a 12% risk of stroke. Aneurysms elsewhere in the aorta can be repaired with a self-fixing synthetic stent grafts delivered through an endovascular route. This significantly reduces the risks of open surgery. These devices cannot reliably be deployed in the aortic arch. We have devised an endovascular stent graft for repair of aortic arch pathology.
